Northern Region

The Mwanza East Islands Domination Project completed its first phase by reaching six islands served by seven network sites, with a team of 23 sales representatives and one team leader. Despite a seven-day delay caused by funding challenges and difficult lake conditions, the activation strengthened Yas' presence across remote island communities and laid the foundation for continued commercial expansion in the Lake Zone.

The project delivered measurable commercial impact, with Yas market share increasing by 6.68% while Vodacom declined by 7.93%, recording gains across 18 of the 20 sites in the targeted islands. Building on these results, the next phase will expand field operations with a team of 32 Freelancers, one LKS Agent, one MYSF, and one Team Leader, alongside sustained monthly boat visits to reach the 36 remote islands of Ukerewe that are inaccessible by road.

Yas Free Eye Camps: Bringing the Gift of Sight to Communities

Through the Yas Free Eye Camps, implemented in partnership with KSI Charitable Eye Clinic, we continue to improve access to quality eye care for underserved communities across Tanzania. The initiative provides free eye screenings, consultations, medication, glasses, and cataract surgeries, helping individuals lead healthier, more productive lives through better vision.

Since its launch, the program has positively impacted thousands of Tanzanians, with over 16,000 patients reached in 2024 and more than 18,000 in 2025. In 2026 alone, 2,286 patients were screened in Iramba and 2,783 in Kilwa Kivinje, with more communities set to benefit through upcoming camps, including a major outreach during the Saba Saba Exhibition in Dar es Salaam. Through this initiative, Yas continues to make a meaningful difference by supporting healthier, more empowered communities across the country.

CSR IMPACT | MARCH 2026

Every tree planted is an investment in generations to come. Through the Yas Green for Kili initiative, in partnership with WWF Tanzania, we continue restoring the vital ecosystems surrounding Mount Kilimanjaro while protecting water sources that support thousands of families. Beyond planting more than 100,000 trees over the life of the programme, the initiative is inspiring environmental stewardship through schools, communities and employee volunteerism, creating a lasting impact for both people and the planet.
